FOUNDATIONS
It is called the foundation to all structural elements whose mission is to transmit the loads of the building or elements upholded in it by distributing loads to land so they not exceed the allowable pressure or zonal loads. Because terrain strength is usually lower than that of the pillars or walls that bear , the contact area between the ground and the foundation will be proportionally larger than the supported elements ( except in very consistent rocky terrains ) ..
The foundation is important because it is the element group that supports the superstructure. We must have special attention because the stability of the construction depends largely on the type of terrain.
